The Palestinian Ministry of Industry, the Palestinian Federation of Industries, and Palestine Polytechnic University signed an agreement to establish the "National Center for Industrial Innovation and Sustainability" on the campus of Palestine Polytechnic University. This step aims to promote industrial innovation and achieve environmental sustainability, contributing to the development of the national industrial sector.
The center aims to enhance cooperation between the government, academic, and industrial sectors, encourage applied scientific research, and support the culture of green industry. An interactive platform will also be launched to connect the academic and industrial sectors and provide a digital environment to support innovation and sustainability solutions.
His Excellency the Minister of Industry, Mr. Arafat Asfour, emphasized that this agreement represents a qualitative shift in cooperation between the partners and contributes to building an integrated system that supports sustainable development. It is in line with the vision of the Ministry of Industry and the industrial sector strategy, which is being developed in cooperation with partners in the private and academic sectors.
For his part, Mr. Nassar Nassar, President of the Palestinian Federation of Industries, explained that the Federation will be a key partner in identifying industrial project priorities and providing the necessary support to enhance cooperation opportunities between the Center and local companies. The Federation will also work to promote the adoption of innovative and sustainable industrial technologies that enhance production efficiency and align with sustainability standards, contributing to improving the competitiveness of national products.
For his part, Dr. Mustafa Abu Al-Safa, President of Palestine Polytechnic University, expressed the university's commitment to meeting the industrial sector's requirements in terms of applied research and educational and training programs, and the Center will provide the necessary support in this regard.
The establishment of the Center is part of a strategic vision aimed at enhancing the national competitiveness of Palestinian industries and supporting the green economy. This will involve developing students' technical and administrative capabilities, enhancing research capabilities, and creating specialized programs that serve the industry according to its needs.
The implementation of planned activities will be monitored by a steering committee to ensure the Center's objectives are met and integrated with the National Plan for Sustainable Industry. Work is also underway to create new partnerships to achieve the Center's objectives.
